Reflective Assignment.

In order to make myself a more complete individual, I would like to do my reflections for my Personality Test, VAK Test and SMART Goals so that I can eradicate my problems.

Reflections for Personality Test
I found that I can easily agree to others. This is not good because the more the agreeableness to others, the more I might lose the opportunity to try on my ideas and opinions, and this is dangerous as I will not know whether I am correct or not because I am not given a chance to try or even think of my ideas. Thus, I must be brave enough to say 'NO', for sometimes, if I found that the ideas and opinions from my friends are wrong.

Reflections for VAK
From the test, I found that my learning styles are more to visual and kinesthetic, well this means that I usually learn through my eyes and by working on somethings. I can learn something quickly through hands-on activities and experiments. Besides, I will make my own notes by drawing mind map in order to make myself clearer about the topics I have learned. The problem I found is, I cannot really learn through auditory methods easily, and this could pose some dangerous effects on my study because usually lecturers will teach the students by explaining the topics to them, and this method, sadly, is mainly auditory method. So what I need to do now is I need to try to make myself used to the auditory method so that I can gain all the knowledge from my lecturers as well as my friends through the auditory method. For example, I can record the lecturer's explanations by using my hand phone so that I can play the audio at home and try to catch up the points through listening to the audio recorded. Last but not least, I must train myself to be multitasking so that when I am in the class, I can do my own notes while listening to my lecturers's explanations. To be able to multitask, I must train myself to be more concentrate , this means that I must make sure that whenever I am in the class, I must make myself clear that I am there to learn but not 'daydreaming' thus, paying attention to my lecturers during their teaching is an upmost criteria for me to adapt to the auditory learning style.

Reflections for SMART Goals
Actually I do not think that I encountered any problems in achieving my SMART Goals, the only problem I am facing now is the allocation of time. I do not organize my time well and this causes many problems to me, to name just a few: do not have enough time to finish up my homework, do not have enough sleep and caused drowsiness and sometimes I will rather squandering over my time than doing somethings that are productive. Thus, I must start to learn to allocate my time well, for example, I will set my own timetable in order to make sure that every of my days is productive.

My Smart Goals

My Smart Goals

I am a sponsored student who is now studying in a college that is full of scholars, I always  worried about my achievement so that I can become a cut above the other students in the college and outshine them, but being an 'expert' is not just daydreaming what you will be in the future, to become an expert, you need your enthusiasm, your actions towards your goals, and last but know least, stating your SMART goals in order to achieve them and at the end, you will reap what you sow.

What is SMART Goals? Here is the definition of SMART Goal, check it out!

After considering all the important points of SMART Goals, I am here to set my own SMART Goals.

Here are my SMART goals:
1. I want to get all As in the coming Semester Exam.
2. I want to fight to become the coming President of Law Society Taylor's College Subang Jaya.
3. I want to get all A* for my AS examination in 2015 so that I can stand a great chance to be received by the universities that I aim to go to.
4. I want to score all A* in my A2 exams.
5. I want to improve my interpersonal skills and interpersonal skills so that I can become a "all-rounder" person.

These are all my goals for the time being, I will update this part from time to time to ensure that I am not lost in my way of pursuing my dreams.

VAK

Now, it is the time for me to talk about my learning styles which lead me to become a high achiever, hope you enjoy it and you might also learn my methods in order to rectify the problems you might face when you are in the midst to get get a better grades in your examinations.

The methods or tools I will be taking about here is the so-called "VAK Tools" which 'V' stands for visual, 'A' stands for auditory and 'K' stands for kinesthetic. The diagram bellow is the simplified diagram of the VAK Tools with some examples .

Many people says that studying is boring, this is because they do not really know the ways which they can study efficiently, which then often get bored easily when studying. So, the best way to solve this problem is to make sure what are your suitable learning styles.

To check on my suitable learning styles, I have done a test that is VAK learning styles self-test: Victoria Chislett MSc and Alan Chapman 2005.From the test, my 'V' is 33.3%, 'A' is 13.3% and 'K' is 53.3%.

Thus, I can conclude that my learning styles are more related to the 'V' and 'K' methods. I cannot just learn something via 'A' method, which is just all about 'listening'. To me , if I want to know the knowledge, principles and concepts clearly, I must do some notes, which I will then colour them nicely so that I can remember the things I jotted down. This method is an example of 'V', visual.

Lastly, I can learn something better through 'K', which is through actions. For instance, to make sure that I can know the Physics principles and concepts well, I will do a lot of exercises related to the topics and finally I got all all of the principles and concepts clear in my mind.

Now I am pretty sure that you guys can figure out when learning method suits you well, do check it out and try it! You will not regret after you have tried!

Below you will find a brief interpretation of each personality trait and what your scorerelative to that trait may indicate about you. Because this is such a brief quiz, however, please keep in mind that the below discussion may not be entirely accurate or completely apply to you. These "Big 5" personality traits are broad traits, and a brief personality testsuch as this one cannot provide a detailed interpretation of your scores.
Extraversion
You appear to be an extravert -- socially outgoing and stimulated by the company of others. Extraversion is characterized by positive emotions, surgency, and the tendency to seek out stimulation and the company of others. The trait is marked by pronounced engagement with the external world and experiencing more positive feelings than most. Extraverts enjoy being with people, and are often perceived as full of energy. They tend to be enthusiastic, action-oriented individuals who are likely to say "Yes" to new opportunities. In social groups they like to talk and tend to be more assertive than others.
Agreeableness
You appear to hold a generally neutral view of humanity and others -- you appear to be somewhat compassionate and cooperative, but also at times suspicious about other people's motivations. While you see the value of getting along with others, you'll speak your mind when you feel like it. You probably hope that most people are honest, but are pragmatic enough to realize many are not.
Conscientiousness
You have scored quite high in conscientiousness, suggesting you greatly value self-discipline, acting dutifully, and aiming for achievement. You likely have a strong preference for planned rather than spontaneous behavior. You seek to avoid trouble and achieve high levels of success through purposeful planning and persistence. You are also positively regarded by others as intelligent and reliable. Sometimes, however, others may see you as a compulsive perfectionist or a workaholic.
Emotional Stability
You have scored quite high in emotional stability, suggesting that you are rarely easily upset and are far less emotionally reactive to stressful or painful situations or people than most others. People who score high on this trait tend to be calm, emotionally stable, and free from persistent negative feelings. You can handle most stress and emotional situations appropriately on a day-to-day basis and would be considered to be "well adjusted" by most of your friends.
Openness to Experiences
You have scored quite high on your openness to experiences. This suggests a general appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, unusual ideas, imagination, curiosity, and variety of experience. The trait distinguishes imaginative people from down-to-earth, conventional people. People who are open to experience are intellectually curious, appreciative of art, and sensitive to beauty. They tend to be more creative and more aware of their feelings, and are more likely to hold unconventional beliefs.

Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC)

Hey guys, here is my college's graduates capabilities and for now I would like to show you guys where was I at this particular moment.

TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITIES

The teaching and learning approach at Taylor’s College is focused on developing the Taylor’s
Graduate Capabilities (TGC) in its students; capabilities that encompass the knowledge, cognitive
capabilities and soft skills of our graduates. The TGC gives students the edge to start and stay
ahead. The TGC ensure that Taylor’s graduates are capable in the following areas:

DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
 Has a sound understanding of foundational concepts and theories in subject area.

COGNITIVE CAPABILITIES
 Foundations and skills for lifelong learning - Learns autonomously; is able to acquire and
manage information, comprehends a wide variety of literature and has an awareness of
contemporary global issues.
 Problem-solving skills - Defines issues or problems well; analyses problems comprehensively;
applies knowledge effectively and applies theory to practice; is able to think critically and
arrive at workable and effective solutions.

SOFT SKILLS
 Communication skills – Speaks and writes well; is able to organize, synthesize and present
information effectively
 Interpersonal skills - Understands team dynamics, the power of teams and teamwork; Works
with others in a team; is able to assume leadership in small and/or big groups
 Intrapersonal skills - Manages time effectively; Understands the role of personal image and
professionalism at work; Works independently in context of tasks to be completed
 Cosmopolitan thinking and intercultural competence – Forms opinions and articulates views
from a global perspective; Has an awareness of and sensitivity to cross-cultural differences;
 Technology savvy – Competent in executive keyboarding; effectively uses ICT and related technologies.

Based on the lists above and their specific descriptions, I would like to conclude my capabilities based on the aspects written above.

1.I have a deep understanding about my subject area this is because I always pay attention in the class when my lecturers are teaching. Besides, if I still cannot understand what the lecturers are teaching about, I will find some alternatives to make sure that I can get the concept clear, for example, I will go online and search for the information I want to know. Furthermore, I am not that kind of student that "only study for exam", I will also search for the topics which is beyond the syllabus so that I can learn something more and apply it in the exams, as well as in my daily life.

2. I am able to study autonomously as what I mentioned above. I do not just study for what will be coming out in the exams, I also learn, something new from the internet and other resources such as encyclopedias and newspaper, with these, I can ensure that I am not lost in this globalizing world .

3. To me , problem solving skills is not just about how to do well in the exams, it also related to how we apply what we have learned in the school in our daily life. In term of academic, I am able to solve the problems by using the concepts and theories that I learnt. In daily life, I am also able to solve my problems effectively from what I have learned.(but in some cases I do need the assistance from my friends, teachers and my family.)

4. I do have a good communication skills as I can speak and write in a fluent way, but I would like to admit that I am not so talented in languages and also, I am not a native speaker, thus , in some extent, I might face some problems in conveying my thought to others by using English. I am sure that with perseverance and resilient, I can master the global language, English as well as the native speakers.

5. I am very good in interpersonal skills, this can be proven when i work as a team with others. I can cooperate with my teammates well whether I am a leader or just a team member. I can produce my own opinions as well as accept other's opinions.

6. Good intrapersonal skills mean somebody can manage himself well without further assistance from others. For instance, time management. Time management is an upmost quality that should be learned by everyone, I myself think that I can manage my time well as I will allocate my time evenly between academic and sports. In term of the understanding about the role of personal image , I can manage my personal image well and prevent stereotypes from others. another intrapersonal skill that I am proud of myself is self-discipline. I am very independent in any aspects, this is because i do not want something bad to happen and there is no use to cry over the spilt milk!

7. I am proud that I have a cosmopolitan thinking. I will think that I live for the world rather than just for myself. I am aware of all the events over the world. About the intercultural competence, I have an awareness and sensitivity towards the cross-cultural differences.

8. About of technology savvy, I am proud to say that I can still strive in this globalizing world, I am not left behind the sophisticated technologies , but I can live with them harmonically.

This is all about my TGC,will be posting about my personality test next time!
